This case study highlights the Identity Management (HI & NHI) module of the Andromeda platform. This project was delivered through close collaboration with the Andromeda CTO, Product Managers, and the Engineering team. Brand elements and proprietary data are showcased for portfolio demonstration purposes.

Overview

Modern organizations manage thousands of identities across employees, contractors, service accounts, and cloud infrastructure. As these environments grow, maintaining visibility, ownership, and secure access becomes increasingly difficult.

At Andromeda Security, I worked as a Senior Product Designer, collaborating closely with the CTO, Product Managers, and Engineering teams to design enterprise experiences that simplify identity security without compromising depth or functionality.

Pain points

Data Overload, Zero Context

Security teams had thousands of users and bots in their system, but couldn’t easily answer: What is risky? Who owns it? How do I fix it?

Machine Identity Blind Spot

Non-Human Identities (bots/API keys) often lacked clear ownership, making it impossible to assign responsibility or remediate risk.

Reactive vs. Remediation

Security teams were drowning in raw data logs rather than being guided by actionable recommendations to fix security gaps.

Information Architecture

Before moving into visual design, we mapped the Information Architecture to better understand the data hierarchy, define clear navigation paths, and determine how to surface the right information on each screen without overwhelming the user.

User Interface

Designing for enterprise security means balancing high data density with intuitive workflows. The following screens showcase how I translated complex identity data into clear dashboards, deep-dive investigation workspaces, and actionable governance tools

Visibility & Posture

By surfacing actionable posture insights like stale MFA for users or poor key hygiene for bots, directly on the home screen, we help teams instantly understand their environment’s vulnerabilities and prioritise their day’s remediation efforts without navigating through complex menus

The Human and Non-Human Identity dashboards serve as the security team’s command center. Instead of drowning in raw logs, administrators get an immediate triage view, breaking down thousands of identities by risk level.

Data Density & Investigation

Managing enterprise scale requires handling high-density data without overwhelming the user. The HI and NHI list views are designed to display complex metrics such as blast risk, lateral movement, and excessive privileges in a clean, scannable format.

By providing robust multi-cloud filtering, we help administrators slice through thousands of identities to pinpoint exact vulnerabilities, turning a massive operational bottleneck into a rapid investigation entry point.

Deep-Dive Workflows

Managing enterprise scale requires handling high-density data without overwhelming the user. The HI and NHI list views are designed to display complex metrics such as blast risk, lateral movement, and excessive privileges in a clean, scannable format.

By providing robust multi-cloud filtering, we help administrators slice through thousands of identities to pinpoint exact vulnerabilities, turning a massive operational bottleneck into a rapid investigation entry point.

Governance & Action

The biggest blind spot in identity security is unowned access. The NHI Ownership Management workflow solves this by surfacing suggested owners based on system logs, allowing admins to accept or reject them instantly.

Combined with the HI Assignments screen which clearly distinguishes between what access a user has versus what they are eligible for these workflows translate a messy, unmanaged list of identities into a clear accountability matrix, making enterprise governance actually possible.

Platform Scale & Additional Workflows

While the dashboards served as the entry point, the platform’s true depth lay in its deep-dive investigation and governance workflows. The screens below showcase the scale of the ecosystem, from access graphs and eligibility matrices to ownership management and activity logs.

Design System & Component Library

To ensure consistency across this complex ecosystem, we built a scalable design system tailored specifically for high-density enterprise data. This included reusable component sets for complex data tables, risk visualization badges, modal workflows, and access graph nodes.

Outcome

The Identity Management experience successfully shipped as a core pillar of Andromeda’s enterprise security platform. By transforming fragmented, raw identity data into intuitive, actionable workflows, the design directly reduced cognitive load for security teams.

The unified dashboards and NHI ownership governance features became key differentiators for the product.

They were actively used in live client demos by the CTO and sales team to accelerate enterprise onboarding and showcase the platform’s value. Beyond the immediate feature set, this work established a scalable design foundation that supported the rapid rollout of future security modules.

More Enterprise Work

The Identity Management experience showcased here represents just one pillar of the Andromeda platform. During my time as Product Designer, I also worked on design experiences for

Just-In-Time (JIT) Access

Secure, temporary privileged access request workflows.

User Access Reviews (UAR)

Enterprise access review campaigns for administrators.

Identity Security Posture Management (ISPM)

Dashboards monitoring identity posture and hygiene.

Least Privilege

Graph-based experiences visualising identity relationships.
